GLENFIELD LOCAL HISTORY

Crooks/Gracie family home, Glenfield.

In 1880 Terence and Elizabeth Crooks bought 59 acres in Glenfield, their farm covering a large area that was to become Stanley, Seaview and Windy Ridge Roads. Minnie Crooks was born in 1882 and later married Arthur M. Gracie. When Minnie’s brother Samuel was left the farm on their parents death, Minnie and her husband Arthur and their eight children came to live and work on the farm until Sam’s death in 1955. After Minnie died in 1956 the house was demolished and the remaining land sold for subdivision. Source: The story of rural Glenfield p.22-23
